Stargaze in a dark sky reserve in New Zealand
New Zealand has some of the best stargazing spots in the world, thanks to its low light pollution and clear skies. One of them is the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, the largest reserve of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It covers an area of 4,300 square kilometres in the heart of the South Island, where you can marvel at the Milky Way, constellations and planets. You can join a guided tour at Mt John Observatory, soak in a hot pool at Tekapo Springs or visit the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo.

Walk among giants at Humboldt Redwoods State Park
While there are many places to see redwood trees in California, Humboldt Redwoods State Park is one of the most impressive. It’s the largest redwood park in the state, with over 53,000 acres of forest land. It’s also home to the Avenue of the Giants, a 32-mile scenic drive that passes by some of the tallest and oldest trees on Earth. You can also hike, bike or horseback ride on more than 100 miles of trails that weave through the majestic groves.

Admire the bottle houses of PEI
A unique attraction near Charlottetown is the bottle houses, located in Cap-Egmont, about an hour from the city. The bottle houses are three buildings made entirely of glass bottles, created by Édouard Arsenault, a local fisherman and carpenter. Arsenault collected over 25,000 bottles of different shapes and colors over four years, and used them to build a house, a chapel, and a tavern. The bottle houses are open to visitors from May to October, and offer a glimpse into Arsenault’s creative vision.

Watch giant ships move through the Panama Canal
The Panama Canal is one of the world’s engineering marvels. It’s an 80 km-long waterway that connects the Pacific Ocean with the Caribbean Sea, allowing ships to cross the continent without going around South America. You can witness this amazing feat at one of the canal’s locks, where you can see how the ships are raised and lowered over the continental divide. The most popular lock is Miraflores, just outside Panama City, but you can also visit Gatún or Agua Clara on the Caribbean side for a different perspective.

Take a tour of Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City
If you’re a fan of the Superbowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, you’ll want to take a tour of their home stadium, Arrowhead Stadium. You’ll get to see behind-the-scenes areas such as the locker room, the press box, the Hall of Honor and the field. You’ll also learn about the history and traditions of the team, such as the iconic tomahawk chop and the Guinness World Record for loudest crowd roar. Tours are available year-round, except on game days and major events.
